Ten Days

Thanks, Kevin, for getting me to work on time. (And London for starting this whole crazy adventure.)

Yesterday at this time: Mt. Rushmore, Keystone National Park, SD

Then I-90, Rapid City to Chicago.

.

The presidents are smaller than they look in this (and every) wonderful vacation photo, but it was still pretty neat to see Cary Grant's old climbing ground. Also, South Dakota is great. After our two-bar lunch stop in Wall, Kevin and I drove off in cowboy-toy meets biker-chick style. Hot.

Road Trip, Part II

The road home.

Washington is pretty.

Montana (is less). Near our room at the Rodeway Inn.

.... And we know it's day 8: Wrong turn on I-94, resort to any unplayed (and unmarked CDs), wind up listening to Hanson and making our way back to I-90.

We heard a snake as soon as we got to the top of the trail.

Recommended by gas station attendant: Mr. Hysham's Supper Club, the best (and only) restaurant in Hysham, MT.

Montana's redeeming quality: mutliple vibrant rainbows.

Luckily made it out of this state by day's end, all the way through Wyoming to Rapid City, SD. Tomorrow, Mt. Rushmore!

Photos!

Mile 1,984 (Sand Mountain, NV): "It's gonna be really far away and really hot" and it was.

Mile 1,708 (US-50, Somewhere in Nevada): "This is just like being alone inside my room." --London
Mile 458 (Des Moines, IA): America's Best Valu-Inn
Mile 2,219 (Berkeley, CA): Co-op reunion, bizarrely

Rough cuts: Movie poster?

Early notes

Ian saved the day before the road trip even began. "Thank God we have the Sex and the City DVDs now." (Mile 0)

Sarah looking gorgeous rear-view style (Mile 87)

Who's that stud? (Mile 337)

RTTs take off

Day one goal: Omaha, NE. Currently not achieved. Will be driving late into the night. Thank God for 2-4-1 Red Bulls and hopelessly helpless gas station attendants (and, the love of my life, Daniel).

All Systems Go?

Today Byungmin/London/Tobi are hoping to begin travels at 11:30. This is looking increasingly unlikely....

BLT went to sleep at around 7am last night and still hasn't done much in the way of preparing to pack. So, things might get a little delayed (it's quarter to 11 and he's in the shower still?). I guess, as long as we make it out of here by 12 we shouldn't be too far behind schedule.

The road trip looks to have finally grown its legs. By the end of tonight we should find ourselves in Lincoln, NE. Stay tuned for updates including the world debut of the road trip trannies' first hit single "Chemical Bank"!

And so it is, just like this

A journal, a lentil.

A green one, a black one, a black one, a stone.

In this chapter of my life I'll be tackling cross-country road trips with two of my closest friends. The journey is still in the planning stages but will start some time soon. Stick around for updates, musings, things I've learned, things they've learned, hot PG-13 photos, things you should've learned a long time ago, things you already know, and a whole lot else.
